After the extension of the former ski trail leading down from the gondola's middle station – Piste no. 5 with a total length of 5 km – in summer 2007, even more snow-making devices were added to the Hochoetz Ski Area last summer.

For the very first time in the 2008/2009 winter season, the entire Balbach Area can be covered with artificial snow. The top modern system is fed by no less than 30 snow guns.

More than 90 % of all ski slopes within the Hochoetz Ski Area are already equipped with state-of-the-art snow-making devices and snow guns.
